Our journey began with a passion for transforming neglected wood into cherished pieces. As a small, dedicated part time business , in the United Kingdom, we pour personal attention and dedication into every detail. Our approach is rooted in quality, integrity, and the celebration of natural beauty, ensuring everything we do reflects our commitment to excellence. Here you'll find answers to the questions we hear most often.

How did Bob's Bowls begin and where did you learn your craft?

Bob's Bowls started from a simple idea – to give forgotten wood a new life. Our founder's passion for woodworking led to countless hours of learning and refining techniques in our workshop in United Kingdom, constantly exploring the unique characteristics of each piece of wood.

What types of wood do you use for your bowls?

We primarily use 'waste wood' – Commonly, Ash, oak, walnut, eucalyptus, apple, lignum vitae. We especially like spalted wood. timber that might otherwise be discarded. Each piece is carefully selected for its inherent beauty, unique grain patterns, and character. We believe in celebrating the 'fruits of the earth' in their most natural form.

What makes each Bob's Bowl unique?

Every Bob's Bowl is a one-of-a-kind creation. The natural variations in the wood, including mesmerising grain patterns, knots, and slight imperfections, are what give each piece its individual charm and beauty. We don't strive for perfection, but for authentic, natural artistry.

How should I care for my oiled wooden bowl?

Oiled bowls require periodic reapplication of a food-safe wood oil to keep the wood nourished and protected. This helps maintain its lustre and resilience. Please refer to our Wood Care Guide for detailed instructions.

What should I avoid when caring for my wooden bowl?

Never leave your wooden bowl submerged in water. Avoid prolonged exposure to direct sunlight or extreme heat, as these can cause the wood to swell, expand, or even split or warp. Treat your bowl gently, allowing its natural beauty to simply be.

Are Bob's Bowls waterproof?

As natural products, not all our bowls are fully waterproof. Some are finished with wax, others with oil. However, some of our pieces feature wood embedded in resin, and these specific bowls are waterproof. Always check the product description for details.

How should I care for my waxed wooden bowl?

Waxed bowls will benefit from occasional replenishing with a suitable wood wax. This helps to protect the surface and maintain its finish. Our Wood Care Guide provides comprehensive advice on this.

What if I'm looking for a 'perfect' bowl?

At Bob's Bowls, we embrace the natural 'imperfections' of wood. Our philosophy is that wood is a unique, natural product with its own inherent charm. We don't do perfection in the conventional sense, but rather celebrate the authentic beauty found in every grain and feature.

Can I see more pictures of a specific bowl before buying?

Absolutely! We are always happy to send out more pictures of any bowl you're interested in, ensuring you can see it from all directions. We pride ourselves on using honest, real pictures of the actual product – never stock images or AI creations.

What is your return policy if I'm not happy with my purchase?

We understand that beauty is in the eye of the beholder, and sometimes a bowl might not be exactly what you expected despite our efforts with real product images.
